Commissioned to Design unannounced project for Google Cloud Next 2025

Project main image
Project Overview / Purpose

Developed exclusively for Google Next 2025, this game’s primary goal was to engage and educate attendees on integrating Google Workspace AI—particularly Google Gemini—into their everyday workflows. By prompting users to share small pieces of personal workflow challenges, the game would then send data to an API that demonstrates how AI automation could enhance tasks like creating Google Calendar invites, sorting Gmail messages, or managing projects more efficiently. Designed for code-savvy professionals, the game needed to strike a balance between fun, interactive gameplay and advanced learning objectives.

An instructional, interactive experience designed to showcase and teach Google Workspace AI capabilities.

Key Features
  • Hands-On AI Integration
Players learn how to seamlessly automate tasks using Google Gemini, bridging the gap between conceptual knowledge and practical application.
  • Real-Time API Calls
The game demonstrates live calls to Google Workspace APIs, helping users see the behind-the-scenes magic of AI automation.
  • Technical Gameplay Mechanics
Puzzle and strategy elements center on real coding scenarios—solving logic-based challenges reminiscent of advanced workflow automations.
  • Google Branding & UI
Incorporates the iconic Google color scheme and brand guidelines, ensuring the experience aligns with the recognizable and trusted aesthetic.

Built with a single, tech-savvy user in mind, but features adjustable challenges to keep even Google-level coders entertained and engaged.
  • Challenges & Solutions

In creating a game that effectively teaches complex AI workflow integrations while remaining entertaining, I encountered several key challenges: finding the right balance of gameplay styles (puzzle, strategy, mini-coding) to keep both education and engagement in harmony; maintaining authenticity for an advanced audience of tech-savvy Google coders through real-world coding examples; adhering to Google’s strict brand and style guidelines by aligning design elements, color schemes, and UI components; and showcasing new Google AI features without overshadowing the core gameplay, ensuring players progressively uncover advanced functions without feeling overwhelmed.

An instructional, interactive experience designed to showcase and teach Google Workspace AI capabilities.

    Technical Stack / Tools
  • Unity (Game Engine): Core for 2D/3D development, interaction logic, and rendering.
  • Figma: Rapid prototyping of UI/UX elements to align with Google’s brand.
  • Photoshop: Asset creation and image editing for cohesive game visuals.
  • C# Scripting: Implementing gameplay mechanics, API integrations, and puzzle logic.
  • Development Status:

Multiple prototype builds were created to demonstrate different approaches to integrating AI tutorials.

After finalizing core concepts and mechanics, the project was passed into full production with the Google team’s oversight.

    Twister Air
"So much fun! Played with my family and we had an awesome time dancing to the music and wearing the fun bands. Awesome game!"
    Garden of Aiden
"I can't remember the last time I felt so satisfied with some game's graphics. Nowadays everything looks so grim and hollow-knight-ish, or in the other hand, too much retro and 8 bit style. Your game, yet pixelated, brings a rich and well-balanced color palette to the table, with a Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery feeling. Congrats!"
    148Apps
    Hank Hazard
"Hank Hazard is a fantastic physics puzzler. Amongst an App Store heaving with the genre, Hank Hazard stands tall, making it an unbeatable example."
